Our colleagues with the Responsible Hospitality Institute (RHI) host free, monthly and online “Sociable City Trendspotting Forums.”
The non-profit consultancy’s next one-hour forum will be offered Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024 at 1 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m., Central, 11 a.m., Mountain, and 10 a.m. Pacific.
RHI states:
Events and festivals have helped drive a return to downtowns post-COVID. Yet some cities are struggling to keep up with multiple events that occur simultaneously or on consecutive weekends. Event planners are challenged to meet private security requirements. Police departments may mandate overtime if there are insufficient off-duty sign-ups or out-source resources from nearby cities.
Discussion topics will include:
- How can cities balance the economic benefits of events with the impacts to residents?
- How does your city ensure sufficient safety resources for day and night events?
- Does resource allocation for events conflict with traditional “nightlife”?
- How can cities include local food and beverage business operators in events?
- How can social venues draw patrons in the off-peak event season?
