Lee Harvey’s Dive In
The “dive bar” references have already been overused.
Still, when one of Dallas’ favorite dive bars added a swimming pool, we suppose it couldn’t be helped.
Lee Harvey’s (yes, named after that Lee Harvey) has long been a favorite spot for a burger, Lone Star Beer and the occasional weekend band.
Long before the rest of the city discovered the once-sketchy Cedars neighborhood, Lee Harvey’s was about the least pretentious spot in Dallas. Now you are as apt to see SMU’s fraternity row out in full force.
Oh, well. It is what it is.
Still, after the 567th day of 100-degree Texas heat, The Dallas Observer crowed, “Lee Harvey’s put in a pool and it might save summer!”
Lee Harvey Dive In transitioned the joint to another level by opening a swimming pool across the street. They have also added weekend DJs who spin millennial favorites, cocktails and snacks like Truffle popcorn.
Truffle popcorn? At Lee Harvey’s?
The pool closes at 10 p.m. as the live band over at Lee Harvey’s starts up.
But don’t worry. At the first chill, the flannels will come back out, the burgers will be hot, the beer will be cold, and you will once again be able to huddle next to a steel cage fire pit wondering where the hell the bathroom is.
