El Sueñito Brewing Company
El Sueñito Brewing Company is a micro-brewery in Bellingham, WA, that offers Pacific Northwest and Mexican-inspired craft beers.
Its owners are not new to the food and beverage industry. In 2015, they also opened Seattle’s Frelard Tamales. The brewery will also serve as the tamaleria’s second location.
And El Sueñito is not just another Bellingham brewery (there are a few of them). It is a gay and Mexican-owned brewery with a mission to build community, remain humble and celebrate culture.
The brewery pledges to:
- collaborate with other small businesses in the community,
- operate from a stance of respect and empathy for others, and
- support local celebrations, including those inclusive of queer and BIPOC folks.
“As an interracial couple, we embrace our gay and Mestizo/Mexican identities to highlight issues affecting our communities,” write owners Dennis Ramey (formerly a cancer research scientist) and Osbaldo Hernandez-Sahagun (a former teacher). “We firmly believe in bringing people together through food and culture because food is one of the world’s universal languages.”
Beautiful.
And then there’s the beer.
And the tamales.
It’s perfect. El sueñito translates to “little dream.” We should all have such dreams.
El Sueñito Brewing Company celebrates its grand opening weekend, Feb. 17-19, 2023.
