Daddy Yankee

Daddy Yankee

Daddy Yankee is causing a stir around the world.

In New York City, a 90-year-old fan who is battling uterine cancer had her greatest dream come true. She got to meet the performer.

“I don’t want to die without meeting Daddy Yankee,” she said.

BBC recently reported that “authorities in Chile used water cannon against crowds after some 4,000 people forced their way into a Daddy Yankee concert.”

Hopefully, that will not be the case when  Daddy Yankee brings his farewell tour to Orlando.

The Puerto Rican rapper (a/k/a Raymond Ayala) is often credited with taking reggaetón global.

Of the music genre he has made famous, Ayala told “Rolling Stone” magazine, “It was all of these influences, like if you put dancehall, reggae, reggae en español, rap, house music, salsa, bachata, and vallenato in a blender.”

Nice mix.

The reggaetón megastar retires after the end of this concert tour. After 32 years of performing, Daddy Yankee’s last lap, La Última Vuelta World Tour, stops at Amway Center, Dec. 18-19, 2022.
