Art keeps track

From Berlin, the Berliner Nachtung is an interdisciplinary seminar series about the night.

On Jun. 8, 2022, the free series will host Roberto Corradini, Architect and Lighting Designer with Lighting Design Workshop, based out of Casale Monferrato, a town in the Piedmont region of Italy.

In the 17th century, no European city had permanent illumination. In the 18th century, consistent street lighting had been established in major cities and changed our relationship with urban nightscapes.

Corrandini will speak to this introduction of artificial light into our nights. The discussion will be guided by paintings of the time and how we can discover evidence of global change through the view of artists.

The presentation will be in English.
