Kyiv City Ballet

The New Orleans Ballet Association launches its 2022-23 season of dance on Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. with the US premiere tour of Kyiv City Ballet.

Amid a greater struggle, the exemplary dancers of Ukraine’s Kyiv City Ballet are a “voice of resistance” (“National Geographic”) on the global stage.

On Feb. 23, 2022, the company unknowingly boarded what would be one of the last flights out of Ukraine for a long-planned tour. Since that day, the artists have not been able to return home. The ballet company has been sheltered by France, touring throughout the country and in Europe.

The Kyiv City Ballet will perform at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts.
