Premiere and Finale

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA: Tragically, Finnish violinist Jaakko Kuusisto died in February 2022 at the age of 48. A natural composer, Kuusisto wrote more than forty works, including three operas, several chamber music works and music for motion pictures.

On June 2, 3 and 4, 2022, under the baton of Music Director Osmo Vänskä, Minnesota Orchestra will present the poignant world premiere of the late Jaakko Kuusisto’s final work. The performance is also one of Vänskä’s finales as he ends his 19-year tenure with the orchestra.
