Wild Things Are Happening: The Art of Maurice Sendak at the Columbus Museum of Art is the first major retrospective of Sendak since his death in 2012.
The exhibition will also be the largest and most complete showing of Sendak’s works.
The show includes more than 150 sketches, storyboards and paintings from the collection of The Maurice Sendak Foundation.
Highlights include original work for Sendak’s most famous books: “Where the Wild Things Are,” “In the Night Kitchen,” and “Outside Over There.”
On view from Oct. 21, 2022, through Mar. 5, 2023, the exhibition is organized by the Columbus Museum of Art in conjunction with The Maurice Sendak Foundation.
In addition to daytime hours, the Columbus Museum is mercifully open until 9 p.m. on Thursdays.
An international tour follows its the exhibition’s debut in Columbus.
