Decade
[Louisville, KY] “Enjoy yourself. It’s later than you think.”
That is the motto for Decade, a neighborhood restaurant in the Butchertown neighborhood.
WHAS-TV tells us that “the name ‘Decade’ was inspired by the owners’ obsession with the importance of time, especially in light of the pandemic. The owners said they wanted a restaurant where guests would be able to seize the moment, be present, and enjoy time with the people they love.”
From a historic 1870s building, 6AM City reports that Decade will focus on local sources and “New American cuisine with Italian and French influences.
“‘We’re really excited about our hand-rolled pastas and the fact that [all our meats] are coming from local farmers,’ [co-owner Matt Johnson] said, adding that they are also sourcing a lot of their veggies from local farms, too.
“A few dishes that highlight this farm-to-table concept include:
- Porchetta with charred fennel, honey, and watercress
- Half-chicken with braised cannellini beans and salsa verde
- Sugar snap peas with Caesar aioli, crispy ham, and cured egg yolk”
In addition to food and beverage, Decade will be a hub for music, art, community outreach, and culture. While the restaurant will operate on the first floor, the second floor will be a private event space called B-Side. It will offer a flexible venue for wedding receptions, music, film, and more.
In a beautifully adapted space where Butchertown Grocery once operated, Decade opened Jun. 6, 2023.
