The Lehman Trilogy
[St. Louis, MO] On a cold September morning in 1844, a young man from Bavaria stands on a New York dockside dreaming of a new life in the new world. He is joined by his two brothers, and an American epic begins. 163 years later, the firm they established – Lehman Brothers – spectacularly collapsed into bankruptcy, triggering the largest financial crisis in history.
Italian novelist and playwright Stefano Massini turned the story into a three-act play named “The Lehman Trilogy.” In this stunning bit of theatre, three actors not only play the three Lehman brothers but all other roles.
The Times of London proclaimed it “A masterwork.”
The New York Times advised theatergoers to “behold it with wonder.”
In 2022, the play received eight Tony Awards nominations, winning five, including best play.
Settle in for “a kaleidoscopic social and political metaphor” as The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis presents its production of “The Lehman Trilogy,” Sep. 6 – 24, 2023.
