Rubell Museum DC

Rubell Museum DC

In the works for more than a decade, Rubell Museum DC will open to the public on Oct. 29, 2022.

The move expands the reach of Miami’s Rubell Museum, one of the most prestigious and influential private contemporary art institutions in the U.S.

Transforming a long-vacant school in southwest Washington, Rubell Museum DC will display contemporary paintings, sculptures, photography and installation art. The adaptive reuse of the building into a museum preserves this important landmark, a historically Black public school in Southwest DC listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The 32,000 square foot museum will feature exhibition galleries, public programming, flexible activation spaces, a bookstore, and a café with indoor and outdoor dining.

The west wing will serve as office space for a variety of companies in creative fields such as nonprofits, cultural institutions and technology incubators.

The Rubell Museum DC will be located at 65 Eye St., SW, Washington, DC
