Nonsense and Beauty
English author E. M. Forster is best known for his novels, particularly A Room with a View, Howards End, and A Passage to India.
In 1930, Forster met and fell in love with Bob Buckingham, a policeman 23 years his junior.
Before long, fear of discovery forced Bob to court and marry May, a young nurse. The ensuring love triangle, turbulent and unique, evolved until Forster’s death nearly forty years later.
Recipient of the 2018 Edgerton Foundation New Play Award, Nonsense and Beauty by Scott C. Sickles follows the eminent novelist as his romance with Buckingham is kept under wraps because of society’s strictures against homosexuality.
The West Coast premiere of Nonsense and Beauty will be presented by Theatre22, Sep. 9 – Oct. 2, 2022.
Sadly, we have also learned that this will be the final production of Theatre22
