This Bitter Earth
Intimate, romantic and devastating, “This Bitter Earth” is about a young Black writer and his white lover, a Black Lives Matter activist. The play asks, “What is the real cost of standing on the sidelines?”
When the introspective Black playwright finds his political apathy called into question by his boyfriend, Neil. As passions and priorities collide, the couple is forced to reckon with issues of race, class and the bravery it takes to love out loud.
Interesting.
The Seattle Public Theater presents “This Bitter Earth,” by Harrison David Rivers, Jan. 27-Feb. 19, 2023.
