Honolulu Rail Line

Honolulu Rail Line

[Honolulu, HI] Forbes writes, “The Honolulu Rail Line could have a partial or soft opening sometime this summer, Hawaii officials announced recently.

The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) has indicated that about eleven miles of the rail line could be open to the public by mid-July.

But do not expect the rail to connect to the airport, Honolulu, or Oahu nightlife. Operating hours for this first portion of the rail have it running from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends. It will connect from Kapolei to Aloha Stadium … so, just wrapping around Pearl Harbor.

KHON2 reports that the Department of Transportation Services is “looking at welcoming passengers under full operations on March 31, 2031.”

By that point, the hours of operations will be from 4 a.m. to midnight on weekdays, running every 10 minutes and running every six minutes during peak hours.

By then we will be in a memory care facility and will have forgotten the difference between leeward and windward.

The Honolulu Rail Line will have a partial opening sometime in July 2023. Until 2031, its hours of operation to end at 7 p.m. daily.

Wait … what?
