Field of Light
Two residents of Paso Robles, California wanted to create a destination for entertainment, exploration and meditation. They also wanted to respect the wine country’s natural topography.
In 2019, Sensorio debuted with an illuminated art installation by British-based artist Bruce Munro.
The sculptural composition, “Field of Light,” covers Sensorio’s rolling hills with an array of over 58,800 stemmed spheres lit by fiber-optics, illuminating the landscape in subtle blooms of morphing color.
Last year, Sensorio added Munro’s “Light Towers” to the 15-acre exhibition. The sixty-nine towers are made from 17,388 wine bottles—252 bottles per tower—rising some six feet high. Each is illuminated in gently morphing color and pulses to original music.
All lights are solar-powered, and all materials used will be in use for years to come. When no longer needed, the lights will be properly recycled .
The installation is open through Sep. 5, 2022.
