Philippe by Philippe Chow
[WASHINGTON, DC] You may not have been to DC in a few years. Or, in that time if you did visit The District, you may not have ventured a few blocks south of The National Mall.
If that’s the case, you will have missed a transformation worth exploring.
The Wharf reestablished Washington, DC, as a waterfront city.
This mile-long stretch along the Potomac River comes to life with restaurants, retailers, residences, and businesses. The site also has a long and storied history.
Now, The Wharf also has the first outpost of Philippe by Philippe Chow outside of Manhattan.
Under the guidance of (you guessed it) Executive Chef Philippe Chow, the 270-seat restaurant with waterfront patio offers a stylized take on Chinese cuisine.
Expect “Peking duck theatrically carved tableside,” Eater DC tells us. But don’t expect to order that dish for four after you have taken your table. The restaurant requires an advance notice of up to an hour.
Eater DC also calls out Phillipe’s “elaborate cocktail program.”
“A lychee martini, for example, has genever, vodka, and sake, brought together by a whole lychee; a darker, more layered drink is a take on an espresso martini with vodka, coconut and banana liquors, coffee liquor, espresso, and hazelnut, topped with a fluff of egg white.”
Oh, my.
Philippe by Philippe Chow opened Jun. 14, 2023. Find the glitzy Beijing-style restaurant at The Wharf.
