The Chameleon
[Washington DC] It’s Christmas Eve and the Golden-Krugers are hovering like wild beasts over moo goo gai pan and orange chicken.
Not only are they celebrating Jewish Christmas, but the prodigal daughter of the family, Riz, an aspiring actress, is finally getting her big break: the lead role of a new superhero franchise, “The Chameleon.”
When news leaks that threatens to ruin Riz’s career, she must make the decision to hide or fight for what is right.
“Ignited by the fast-paced frenzy of social media, the play rampages through questions of identity, representation, and the complications of assimilation,” Theater J tells us.
We believe them because nothing says Jewish Christmas more than Chinese takeout.
Theater J presents the world premiere of Jenny Rachel Weiner’s comedy, “The Chameleon,” Oct. 11 – Nov. 5, 2023
