America’s ‘first planned city’ takes a look at its nighttime economy

Savannah, Georgia is on tap to address nighttime-related issues like public safety, transportation, tourism, noise and alcohol control at night.

Joining the ranks of other US cities and towns that moving toward nighttime management models, the Hostess City has decided to retain Responsible Hospitality Institute to help develop a night management program.

“We are a 24-hour city,” says Savannah mayor Van R. Johnson. “Our city is different at night and on weekends than it is during the day, and I think we have to recognize that.”
