Free The Night is a charity committed to creating a safe, progressive, and culturally rich environment for nightlife in Northern Ireland. The organization identifies and challenges key issues within the nighttime economy that prevent it from reaching its true potential.
Free The Night also provides evidence-based best practices and engages with frontline services, policymakers, local authorities, local businesses, and the individuals who work in these spaces.
SERVICES PROVIDED
Our mission is to create an environment where everyone in Northern Ireland can thrive. We work collaboratively with other industry sectors to highlight the need for a progressive nighttime economy in Northern Ireland, benefiting those directly involved within the nighttime industries and the local community. Our evidence and research have global relevance, and all our research is freely available to the public.
As a nonprofit charity, we are dedicated to sharing our knowledge and expertise with other advocacy organizations worldwide. We are happy to advise and help those who seek to carry out work in a similar way, promoting safe and inclusive nighttime environments across the globe.
OUR VISION
Our vision is for a progressive approach towards entertainment licensing and the nighttime economy in Northern Ireland. We aim to create an industry that encourages tourism, career opportunities, creative development, and cultural diversity and that prioritizes the safety of all individuals who work and partake in nightlife.
OUR MISSION
Our mission includes campaigning for a better alcohol and entertainment licensing structure in Northern Ireland for creatives to organize events, making the licensing system more equitable and fairer, building an infrastructure that allows creatives to thrive, protecting venues and creative hubs, and supporting the government in taking progressive steps to build a thriving and culturally rich nighttime economy.
OUR ACTIVITIES
We focus on research and evidence-building, advocacy, and education, undertaking research relating to our policy areas, lobbying the Northern Ireland Assembly, engaging and collaborating with tourist boards and neighboring European cities, and creating resources that support and facilitate the nighttime industries. Our research and evidence are globally relevant and freely accessible to the public, and we are eager to collaborate with other advocacy organizations to make a global impact.
