Measuring the Australian Night Time Economy 2021-22
This report provides the latest insights into the Australian Night Time Economy (NTE) during the 2021/22 financial year. During this time, businesses continued to experience considerable restrictions and uncertainty, leading to significant fluctuations in activity.
Ingenium Research developed the application of the Night Mix Index methodology for measuring Australia’s nighttime economy and have been involved in subsequent iterations since its inception. This study provides the first insights into establishments and employee numbers across the sector and its supporting and dependent supply chain. Sales revenue was added as a third aspect of measurement of the economic benefit of the sector.
The annual research provides an analysis of all major councils in Australia – a total of 88 Local Government Areas, and provides insights into the numbers of employees, businesses and sales across a range of organizations predominantly active in the evening and night time (across the Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification codes of Drink, Entertainment and Food businesses).
