Michigan’s Dark Sky Preserves

Dark Sky Preserves

Stargazers now have 24-hour access to Michigan’s Dark Sky Preserves. The state Department of Natural Resources recently passed an order permitting this.

Dark Sky Preserves are special areas within state parks where light pollution is limited.

Entrance to dark sky preserves in state parks had previously been restricted to park hours which were from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
