Today, Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, is Election Day in the United States. We have opportunities at national, state, and local levels to chart a new course for the future. And the world is watching.
- If you are eligible to vote and have voted, thank you.
- If you are eligible to vote but have not voted, please exercise your hard-won right to vote at your voting location.
- If you are unsure what America’s nighttime economy has to do with your voting choices – because so few politicians know enough to even talk about this – please read the following.
24HourNation champions the economic, cultural, and social vitality of the nighttime economy.
For centuries, nightfall has allowed policymakers and civic leaders to perpetuate disrespect, irrational fear, and abuses of human and civil rights. Today, politicians also hold our nighttime workforce in the dark, minimizing after-dark commerce, culture, hospitality, and services.
To throttle or disregard our nighttime ecosystem’s potential is an absence of vision.
At night we can: hear and see artistic expressions; receive care and protection; make a profit; savor food and drink; better our communities; earn income to feed our families; reduce crime and crashes; contribute to the local tax base; advance our education; minimize environmental impact; enjoy a great game; build meaningful relationships with others; and (quite possibly) reunite our country and change the world.
We should run toward our nighttime and creative economy, not away from it.
So, today, as you vote for politicians or propositions, ask yourself, “Can this person or referendum strengthen my city’s nighttime cultural, social, and economic vitality?”
If you can envision an answer of yes, then you have applied valuable logic to your voting decision, and we thank you for that.
